Mine have always been unglued from the windshield and easy to remove 84).
Thx, just wanted to make sure it wasn't sealed for a reason and I didn't have to re-seal it. Should be fun to cut the excess windshield caulk and not cut the screen up in the process.
Well cutting the caulk is not looking promising and I've already damaged the screen some. Once again a simple task turned into a much more difficult and longer one because of some moron!
I've seen them both ways, guess it depends on how the installer at the factory felt that day. The ones that were glued had it near the windshield like they put a of extra sealant on and it ran down n the screens.

Tried a few diff razor knifes and such, no matter how deep I cut doesn't seem too free it up and I'm afraid I'll cut all the way thru and have the windshield leak. I can't even see the top edge of the plastic it's all caulk down onto the screen mesh.
Windshield has a small crack but I can't afford to replace it atm and I'm trying to fit some tall proform valve covers that almost fit by trimming the wiper motor mounts.

I have an '87 and trying to remove screen. I've removed the four torx screws and most of the screen comes away but roughly amidships there is a small rectangular panel that seems to slide slightly left and right and MAY be holding the screen down. At that point, at least, the screen simply does not want to lift up. Does that 'panel' snap out or something. Thanks.
My 91 seemed to be glued down from the windshield mastic. I just pulled on it and kept moving it back and forth and it came out. Getting it back in seemed to be the problem.
