My new valve springs (Engine Works p/n 920-16) will not fit over the stock LT4 valve spring locators (locator is .003 larger than the spring ID). Chevrolet sells a valve spring seat used on the ZZ3 crate motor that doesn't have a locator. Is the use of a seat with a locator really necessary?
The p/n used on the ZZ3 is: 10185066 - Valve Spring Spacer; Used on all ZZ3 Series 350 HO engines. The spacer is 1.35" OD x .561" ID x .050 thick.
I have an LT4 that I'll be installing the HOT Cam in. It sees ~2,500 miles/year and limited 1/4 mile action (~6 times or so each year + some autocross)
