I have four sensors on my LT4. Drivers side front on is easy. Passenger side front was not easy. No room to turn the wrench with out taking the starter out. Tell what though, better than paying the dealership to do it.
You'll need an O2 sensor socket. I bougt mine at autozone for like $10 bucks.
If I can do things on my car I rather do it myself hard or not  I didn't know that they made a O2 sensor socket. I will grab one and go at it.
Let me ask you something else, my car is running rough. When I give it gas it spits and spuders, some times even back fires. I had my mech guy check it out and he said that the O2 sensor was threwing a code. Plus I have the original coil on there. I just picked up the MSD coil to put on. So I'm hoping between the two that will take care of it. Did yours run rough before you changed yours out????

My car is running the same way. It ran pretty good for about a week or two. Now it's running bad again. I have had this problem twice already. Everytime I disconnect the sensor for clutch job or exhaust work , i have had issues. Right now Bank 2 sensor 1 has no circuit activity. On a scanner the sensor voltage was not going up or down at all. It was static at .010mv or volts.
Here are the codes I pulled about a month ago. Not sure If I am getting all these codes right now. I need to do some more testing with a test light i guess.
Here's my two links about the codes I had and O2 issue.
I had that problem and it ended up being the ECM and a cracked cap on my optispark. What code are you throwing?
My mechanic looked at it and told me that it's threwing codes for both O2, did state which one. So I'm just going to replace the the front one one passenger side. He stated that the optispark wasn't throwing any code, but he said they rarly do. So I will start with the coil and the O2 sensor and see what happens.
I just ordered 2 from Jeff Kopp. I got mine out pretty easily from the top with a long extension & O2 socket but I have my manifolds out -lol I'm putting headers in and figured with 47k miles on the original sensors now would be a good time to replace.
Driver side wasen't too bad but the pass side sensor had ALOT of carbon buildup on it.
Passenger side looks tough from underneath, you may be able to get an wratchet in there with an O2 socket or manage to get a wrench on the end of the O2 socket, otherwise try a 7/8" shorty wrench.
Just my .02 but I would replace both O2's at the same time.
Sure does. when you get under the car and look, you'll see how there is not much room at all to work with. Your sensor may not be as tight as mine were. Give it a try first with the starter in place. Good luck. I would also change out the other driver side sensor. It's not hard on that side and they are only $42 bucks for OEM sensor from The Last Detail. Nice guys to deal with.
