B&M Shift Kit Issues
I serviced my automatic transmission this weekend to replace the fluid and filter on my 1990 convertible and while I was there installed a B&M shift kit.
The car was running fine and thought that adding the shift kit would improve the shifting. I followed the instructions to the letter, or so I thought, but during the post-modification test drive discovered that I only have 1st gear. After I initially test drove it, I tore it back down to verify everything was correct, closed it back up, and test drove it for a second time and the same thing occurred. Has anyone else run into this problem installing a shift kit on their car and if so what did you find the problem was? I tried adjusting the throttle position cable per the instructions and no change. The transmission is very tight off the line and if you shift it in low gear it wines down like it should and shifting into drive it coasts until you get the throttle high enough for the engine RPM's to catch up. I am ready to tear it down again if necessary but if someone could direct me in the right direction I would be grateful.
One thing that I did just think of was I did not disconnect the battery during the time I did the transmission work. Would that make a difference?
Thank you as always.
Mike
