Does anyone have a 88+ front subframe laying around that they can measure for me? I just need a few basic dimensions to model the C4 front suspension.
I realize the mounting points won't get me the correct bushing and ball joint centers, but I have the wishbones and*uprights so I can get pretty close, I'll be making changes anyway.
If anyone can help with this I would appreciate it. I scoured the internet yesterday and could only find the 84-87 and C5 measurements.
Just a thought but you might try your local collision shop. They use spec sheets for the correct dimensions when pulling the frame back into alignment after the car has been wrecked.
You don't mention your location but you really need a "hands on" for dimensions so that you can gather the information from points that interest you. Collision specifications for the cross-member generally only mention width between A-arm uprights to check "crush", the balance of collision dimensions are concentrated on the frame rails and it's assumed a specification correct cross-member will bolt in.
You need to find one in a salvage situation or in a "parting a car" thread in the parts section and measure "first hand"! Doing this "first hand" you can confirm all dimensions.
Yeah, I found that out today. It seems that unless I have a corvette in front of me I really can't use these dimensions. Of course, if I had a corvette in front of me I could just measure directly.
I'm in Garner NC, so I'll peruse the parts section and see if there's a nearby part out. Otherwise I know a guy in Gastonia who always has some half parted out cars, and I will be headed that way Sunday.
