I am chasing down some elecrical gremlins and noticed a relay mounted to the drivers side inner fender to the left of the master cylinder. It was split open and someone "fixed" it by wrapping with electrical tape it was exposed to the elements now.

Another relay has been added by someone and it is flopping around loose by the brake booster will have to get à photo of it.
Maybe I can determine what it is by the numbers printed on it.

The numbers, a snapshot and wire colors would help for any identifications.
Cooling fan relay in '87 I believe would be red, dark blue, black/red and green/white wires.
An '87 would have both MAF relays on the firewall outboard of booster in the vicinity of the cruise module closer to hinge pillar. Perhaps one of those has been rewired and relocated. If factory I believe they're side by side. Look above battery.
You need to correct the "wire nut" connecting points and you could maybe post the colors at the "wire nuts" for identification. Wire nuts aren't the preferred connecting/mating when splicing in the automotive industry or any open air environment. The relay and the connector are certainly an after-market repair/replacement for something but it will remain unknown until information is posted. Check the wire colors carefully.
On an 87, isn't one of the relays for fans and the other for fuel pump?
I replaced both on mine I think each relay was like 20 bucks or something reasonable been a while so I don't remember exactly how much.
Also, I bought off ebay a wiring harness connector for that same connection, it had the correct coloring for the wires and it should really be soldered and heat shrunk to be reliable.
