Default two questions

First- 96 vette. Headlights, work good and smooth, except when they
get to the travel limit either open or closed and I hear this bump
bump 3 times, then all appears normal???? Is their a limit switch
or a gear issue?

Second- the temp guage seems hot and when I select the computer
setting is says between 225 and 228. Is this normal? if not
suggestions on a fix.

New car to me, so don't want to mess it up.

Lights:
Sounds like the bushings kit will need to be installed into the motor housing. When the motors 'over run' and makes any noise beyond both opening or closing, this is the tell tale sign that a rebuild is in order. Not a bad job at all and cheap. I have it down to 30 minutes a side but expect 1.5-2 hours on the first side, and less on the second. There are a few videos on you tube documenting the job.

Temp issue:
Is the temp always reading between those temps when cold or is that the normal operating temperature after warm up. Just clarifying.

I tend to agree but you can test which side is bad.
Open the clam and activate the headlights. Notice from which side is coming the "bump"s.
Then use the large black know atop the motor to manually rotate the headlight assy. Repeat for the "good" side. The "bad" side should feel mushy while the "good" side should feel firm with immediate though slow headlight movement.
