Need help with 4+3 Reverse linkage inside transmission
Hi guys, I have a 1985 Corvette with the Doug Nash 4+3 transmission. I just finished rebuilding the manual trans and overdrive unit. I have the transmission back in the car, but my problem now is that the reverse lights come on when I'm not in reverse, and go off when I put it in reverse.
I tested out the reverse functionality on the bench and it worked fine.
I believe the is a ball in the reverse light switch that goes in and out dependent on the notch in the reverse shift shaft, the shaft that hooks to the linkage on the outside, and goes through the case to the inside.
Is it possible that I could have put the reverse shift shaft and lever in backwards? Or does it only go one way?
Don't feel bad, I did the same thing years ago. Crawling around a Vette you perspective gets skewed. I'm quick to take photos with my phone now, saves I bit of head scratching :
