does anyone have an idea what could cause high rpm vibrations on my 6-speed 1996 lt4? It happens only between 5000-6500rpm and it's so noticeable that if you have coins in those cups at the center console, coins will jump around.
rotating assembly and flywheel are balanced and the vibrations didn't start suddenly, they been creeping in during past few years and now they are too noticeable to not do anything about them. But what could cause them when it's not the engine? worn joints somewhere? worn bushings somewhere?
Thanks guys!

..... If its an RPM specific vibration as opposed to road speed specific you need to search from the front of the engine to the front of the trans (input bearing?) ... the first suspects are all bolted to the front of the engine ... belt tensioner , A/C compressor , power steering pump , alternator , and last but not least the harmonic balancer ... I doubt that its internal , but it could be ... do a compression check and take a good look at the valve springs before you drop the pan ... if your 'vette has a dual-mass flywheel , you'll want to check it too .......
