1989 delay wipers not working
Thanks
Mitch
With the ignition On and the wiper switch in the Off position.
Press down on the wiper switch and keep holding it down. The windshield washer pump motor should run and spray washer fluid on the windshield. (Assuming you have fluid in the container).
The wiper motor should continue to operate in Lo speed.
Release the switch and the wipers will continue for two sweeps then
park the wiper arms and turn off.
If that doesn't work.
Below is a picture of the wiper motor plastic cover which is held in
place by 3 torx screws.
The arrows point to the top 3 pin connector and a 3 pin connector on the side of the cover.
On the Top connector the color of the wires from left to right.
Pink
Black which is ground.
Brown
With a volt meter set to DC.
With the ignition On, Press and hold down the wiper switch and you should measure 12 volts on the Brown wire.
If you don't there is a problem with the wiper switch or the wiring from the Brown wire at the wiper switch to the Brown wire at the 3 pin plug.
If you measure 12 volts, the problem is in the delay wiper motor circuit board which is mounted on the back side of the black plastic cover.

They are rare (getting harder to find)and usually not repairable at home. The damn motor never fails...but that circuit board with all the magic DOES !
