Does everyone agree?
If I put self aligning 1.6 roller rockers on my stock 91-L98 I will not need to change the guide plates and pushrods, however with 72k miles should replace the springs and valve guide seals.

Yes, replace both.

You can toss the guide plates as they were only used during assembly by the General and have no effect during operation.
It's recommended that you replace pushrods though you don't need the hardened ones.
It's a good idea to get a set of machined locks also, cheap insurance against dropping a valve.
You may need a variety shim pack when installing new springs; toss those tin oil shedders from atop your stock springs to lighten up the valve train.
You can get a set of lower valve seals and upper O-rings from your local Chevy dealer.

What valve springs do you recommend? Should I change the retainers too or can I use the stock ones?
Thanks for your input.

I used Comp Cams P/N 981 valve springs and variety shim pack P/N 4753.
Since I planed to rev much higher than stock I went to Ti retainers and 10deg machined locks, but you can stay with your stock retainers. I believe it was Scrop that had a problem with reusing original locks.

With the shim pack you make sure that your installed height is equal with all the springs? What is the reason for changing the pushrods? Because the old ones are worn to the stock rockers?

I've heard that with the geometry of the 1.6 RRs that hardened pushrods are a most. Just wondering why you are saying that they are not needed?

Re: Does everyone agree? (96LT1)
According to Pete ( CNC Cylinder Heads LT1 expert) hardend pushrods are not needed with 1.6 self aligning roller rockers.
