Default 91 c4 Dash cluster

Well before i could get to the small fixits on the vette the cluster acts up! Lol..i can drive it with the small issues but this is gonna ruin my weekend.
So i pull it out and put it ba k in and bingo.. it worked..for a ride down the street. Shut it off and try it later and its blank again...so i pull it again..clean the contact plug..plug it back and its all goofey and garbled up!..i go on line to find one and that is likefinding a hair on my bald head, lol..i dont need the bulbs..or something related..i need a 1991 corvette c4 base hatchback instrument cluster ..or a place to have it repaired and diagnosed. Do they exist? I hope someone can feel my pain. Not really..there's got to be a site out there that i can actually use to get the parts i need..instead of being re-redirected to somewhere that in the end of navigateing thru it doesnt even have it..am i the only one on this earth this happens to? Jeesh..HELP!!

You might start by explaining your exact issue. If the cluster is out presently what is the number on the label that should be stuck to the back-side of it? The one you have now you believe to be original? It matters.

Cluster repairs are done every day. Where are you located?

Numerically it's a correct cluster but what's wrong with it? Specifically what does it do?

How close to Streator IL?

Hello..thanx for the reply..im guessing streator is about 1001 mile north. Im 30a minutes south of peoria..the cluster? Well it went blank. Unplugged it then back in..it came back on all garbled and missing half the display..nothing was correct and pressing trip monitor didn't effect it. I have it totally apart. All the resisters have current going thru them and don't see any bad spots in the raceway or solder..im not a electronics whiz by any means but can isually get by. Found a used cluster for $799. I'll drive it without gauges before i pay that kind of money! Lol..

Look very close at the main pins (car harness plugs into these). I found some micro-cracks at the pin to board solder joints, I used some solder braid to desolder & then resolder the pins. Its working ok so far. Good luck!

Thanx. I'll try that because 3i resisters are dead until i run a screw driver across those solder joints then i have a reading for awhile.

Vette2vette is there and I thought maybe it wise to consider a used cluster. Just make sure the label # matches and you could be all set. Jason would be the contact there. The mileage is stored in the CCM so you don't need to be concerned about the miles. The display would be just as it is/was on yours. Sometimes "inventory" might have something to do with pricing but I'd think it quite negotiable. If he had one that wasn't pretty and maybe just the lens marred maybe quite negotiable. You can get a pretty good idea of the condition of the LCD just be checking the pointer color. If it's they're bright and dark orange it's likely the LCD is pretty good.

Default Fixed!!!

Thanx for the replys everyone..this was such a ez fix and inexpensive! All it was..was the connection plug to the led display was SO full of corrosion ..thru a set of jewelers glasses it was obvious..cleaned the contacts with cleaner and bingo!!!.. well not so fast! Lol..nothings that ez ever..the display was barely visible
because like a big dummy i put
the orange lens on the OUTSIDE
Of the glass led window..not behind it..that was a ez fix! All in all i know my way around the cluster thoroughly now! Bring it
on electrical systems.!
