Default 32B vs 6E

There are some issues. There was no 4+3 in '89 and I want to keep it functional. I tried grafting in the SA table from APYP (manual version of ARAP), but that was a major downgrade - laboring in all ranges. Turns out 6E has a different way of adding in the PE advance.

Next, I ran the straight APYP bin and it was a definate improvement, but my OD kicked IN in 1st gear even though all the TCC tables are zeroed out in that bin. What did they use the TCC line for in '89????????? 4+3 woes!

I disabled a flag (bit 0 in byte $0047), recompiled the code and no longer get the 1st gear OD- it was only momentary, but still... Performance with the full 6E code is encouraging, much better handling of AE, not disappointing overall, SOTP not unpleasant. I didn't disable the 9th injector - and it starts quicker - go figure (it's tres warm out). Only, no OD at all. I might be facing huge code rewrites for that to happen.

What's next, SD?

Well, I recall that CAGS started in '89 so that must be what the TCC/OD wire is connected to. That's why it activated in 1st gear when I put in the '89 manual bin.

Going one step further, that means changing the byte at hex $C8DE from a 5 to a 4 would be a pretty simple way to eliminate CAGS.

Any Tunercat people read this forum?

Yes the TCC line was used for the CAGS in the 89 BIN.

Can't you just bypass the ECM control for the OD unit? or is that something you don't want to do?

I would like to keep the wiring original wherever I can accomplish what I want by changing the software. I'm liking the 6E programming more each time I take the car out, so it looks like a deeper understanding of that code is next for me. ARAP for the 4+3...

Also, adding WBO2 data to the scanner stream also seems like a very real possibility to add to the code:

I wonder if adjusting the injector PW during PE using WBO2 data would gain anything (besides an engine rebuild)?

It can be done, but you lose the automatic down/up shifts the 4+3 offers. A really really handy feature on the highway. :yesnod:
