Anyone have an idea on what a swap would run money wise?
1985 corvette... Why did you have to get my wheels spinning lolol
much depends on the transmission...
T5 and T56 are pretty good options (stock motor?).
The T5 goes in without any major issues as far as gearing... T56 and ZF6, yea... gearing issues...
The ZF6 is killer, but pricey.
Figure a min of $1500 for a manual conversion, and then save your pennies for a D44, cause the D36 won't last long under a manual, especially if you beat on it.

You are correct. The 92/93 Y Body and 93 F Body had a 700R4 with just enough difference to be called a 4L60. But the gears were stlll operated by oil pressure not electonically. The 4L60E began in 94.
However there are many parts that are interchangeable.
the time to do it is when the 700R4 takes a dump... which it will.
Agreed. Ill drive it into the ground then maybe a swap.
I am biulding a one off kit car as well though so when this vette is wrapped up it probably wont see much wrenching for quite a while. I dont plan on ragging on it... Much so we'll see how long it lasts
so in this picture you can see the trans fluid collecting around the big circle part? its not from the front seal. its coming from the bigger diameter. whats behind that? is there a gasket i can replace there? i'm kinda of considering attempting rebuilding it myself... any thoughts on doing a home rebuild on a 4l60e?
so i bought these rims from "Replica wheels" and i hate that company.... anyone want to buy these from me. they are 9.5x17 front and 10.5x18 rear. they sent me the rims, i paid for them, one of the wheels is bad. it needs 9.5 ounces to balance out. they want me to sign a warranty form that i have to put my credit card number on and agree to terms that basically says they are not responsible for anything and if they deem the rim passable "at there facility" then i get charged for all the shipping and the price of a new rim. i have all the back and fourth's from the company and they are not budging. apparently when you buy rims you need to have the place installing the tires do a bare rim balance and total runout before they mount the tires cuz if they fail and after the tire is on and get damaged during taking the tire back off well that voids the warranty... this place is a joke. anyway these rims have zero scratches, zero dings, zero visual defects. one rear tire has a wobble to it. you could order one new tire from them or balance it out and have a tire that wobbles a bit. this company is a sham. anyway $400 plus shipping and there yours. i'm going to let everyone know on all the auto forums i'm a member of what a crock these guys are. also going to file a complaint with the better business bureau
I am far from a wheel expert but if those are real 3 piece wheels you may be able to get the balance much closer by taking the inner and outer apart and rotating those pieces relative to each other until you get a better balance. You will then need to torque and seal each bolt but I imagine that is a lot easier than rebuilding a tranny.

one piece rims... fake looking three piece lol cost $540 new.
huh? they wont return. i spoke with greg and then i think i was emailing back and forth with the owner. he said he will not change his warranty policy and that my installers didnt know what they were doing... Kan rock tire.. they are just as capable as every other tire shop out there. there set up so that if this type of thing happens.. your screwed.
who in the world tells a tire place to do a bare rim balance and total run out test before you mount my tires. once tires are mounted they get to say you being charged for a new rim. they suck, i'm so steamed by this company they are crooks.
cheap wheels for anyone interested. make me an offer. still in the box. i'm ordering another set of rims right now... from a different company.
The "big circle thing" in your post #170 is the oil pump and the casing surrounding it. It has an O ring on it's circumference that could be leaking. The bolts also have O rings on them. The bolt in the top right corner of your picture looks suspect as it has collected more dirt than any of the others and looking closely - a clean spot that may indicate oil flow past it. Check it for torque and integrity of the O ring. As far as a home rebuild? There is nothing magical about rebuilding an automatic if you are a confident wrench. However, there are three keys to success. Cleanliness, cleanliness and cleanliness. Also, when the specs call for a certain clearance range, it is not merely a suggestion. Get yourself an ATSG and video for your year and go for it.

Replica wheels. Check. Add them to the garbage list.
Their warranty basically states "we sell junk, and will blame you for getting air on these wheels which will reinforce the fact we sell junk."
Hate to say it, but you do get what you pay for...
But it shouldn't be THAT bad... damn...
lol thats to funny, thats what i said to them. when they said i didnt want to sign the warranty form because i probably damaged the wheel. i said no i will take all the hd pictures you want to see that there is no scratches, dings or buggers on the rim. lol crappy company. told me about 4 different times to try something different or take the rim to a place that had a tire machine that could do a total runout test etc. i asked if that is whats expected of there customers when they send them rims. wheel replicas.... please people spread the word about this company.
