This is strange to me, has anyone else notice that when you run your Air Conditioning the car engine temps. are cooler then when the Air Conditioning is off? I would think that the engine temps. would be hotter when the Air Conditioning is running  Is this normal for C-4 ?
Mine climbs with A/C on too, though I run an underdrive crank pulley with stock water pump pulley (only overdrive alt pulley). I don't use the A/C enough to warrent installing the overdrive water pump pulley from the set.
Maybe your line pressure is high and that kicks the fan on.
Same here..... takes more horsepower to run the A.C.; it's really obvious here in the valley when it gets to 100ºF + and you get stuck in stop and go traffic. Although, at freeway speeds it's only a degree or two more.
No poppy, I don't run my A.C. in winter that's why I'm worried if overheating is going to be a strange factor. With the A.C. off my numbers are climbing over 240  With the A.C. on I'm reaching about 200
I asked Gordon Killebrew about this at Bowling Green and he says it's normal. Cutting on your A/C cuts on your aux fan, so it should run cooler. It's the same fan that cuts on when the car reaches 230 to cool it down.
Mine works normal. Cooler when A/C is on. Too bad I'm a windows guy and don't like the A/C on :D.
He said you could install a manual switch to do this without turning on the A/C or waiting til it hits 230, but it will throw a code...at least one my '94 it will.
When you turn the AC on the fans come on and stay on till you turn the AC off...if your temp is over 240 when you turn on the AC the fans will definately drop your temp some...however...if your running over 240 with no AC on I think that is a bit high...without AC my fans come on at 228..it might reach 230 but then drops in short order to 205 - 210..there are plenty of threads in the archives about this topic...they generally begin with checking for debris and maybe pulling the radiator for a good cleaning... good luck
