My AC is totally empty, so I'm refilling it with R-134a. Part of that is replacing all of the seals in the AC lines and replacing the Schrader valves. I got all of the valve cores out without incident until I came to the high pressure valve. I've tried two sizes of core removal tools and neither worked. I came across something saying sometimes these valves are unserviceable, but found little to support it.
I need to replace the high pressure side Schrader valve core, but can't remove it. Can anyone help?
It's a 1990 Corvette. The only applicable RPO (I think) would be C68, the electronic climate control.
I think you need to replace a high side hose with the R134 valve in it. that's what I had to do when I converted mine to R134. cost me new compressor, evaporator, hose with valve and metering tube.

good luck

I believe there's a high-side adapter that has the provision to depress the Schrader valve when it's installed so that the replacement of the entire line is NOT needed.
BTW you can get by without changing out the high side fitting if your AC gauges have the short 134 hoses adapted to the 12 hoses. Use the 12 high side hose to read high side pressure.

I looked and I couldn't find that hose. Where did you get yours?

I already have the adapter that allows the freon can to connect to the fitting. I failed to make this clear initially, but the reason I need to replace the valve is because I believe it is leaking.
Or do those fittings have a Schrader valve inside them for permanent use?
I notice they say "MAKE SURE YOU REMOVE THE OLD R-12 SCHRADER VALVE BEFORE USING THESE VALVES."
My problem is that I can't remove the old valve.
Tire valve stem tools work on occasion, you probably need a tool designed for Schrader valves. Although they look like a tire valve core removal tool the slot that the flats of the Schrader valve fit into are deeper + the slotted stem is heavy duty.
