I am told the ac runs when the heat is on. I opened the hood and turned on defrost at hi heat setting, heat came out off the vent but I looked at the compressor and the clutch was engauged and the pipe from the compressor was ice cold. I heared it was to keep the seals lubricated. Can anyone confirm if this is normal in all vehicles.
AC runs with the DEFROST ON. AC "makes dry air", by condensing moisture in the air on the evaporator....why you see water dripping under your car when the AC is on.
With just the heat on, on "vent" or "Floor", the AC does not run.
If you have the NON C68 (base HAVE controls) then pushing the "AC/Vent" button, or the "Bi level" button does run the AC...I don't know why it runs on Bi level, I don't like that, but it does on the Later C4.
