SES?

How do you check the diagnostic conector without having some type of scanner because the ses light stays on some times i start my 89' vette and were do the codes display? :cheers:

Use a paperclip to connect terminals (oh boy, major brain fart here) I think A and G together on your ALDL connector under the dash. It is by your right knee while driving. I think they are the upper right and lower right terminals.

The SES light will then...

FLASH <small pause>
FLASH FLASH

This means "12" and that it is entering diagnostic mode. Any codes you have will then flash in the same manner with a longer pause after the 12.

If you got this sequence....

FLASH <small pause>
FLASH FLASH <longer pause>

FLASH FLASH FLASH <small pause>
FLASH FLASH <longer pause>

FLASH <small pause>
FLASH FLASH

That means 12, 32, 12.

The 12s mean it is entering and exiting diagnostic mode and you have a code 32 set.
