Default Need to hit 13's need help

I already have the mods listed in my sig. The best I have ran is a 14.106. What else can I do to help shave some time off I don't want to add anything else I'm looking for some free mods here. I was thinking of bumping the timing a little and bypassing the the trottle body, but I don't think this will get me into the 13s. Do anyone have any suggestions

Have you verified your throttle position sensor is adjusted right? Where is your timing now? What are your sixty foot times? How much gas do you typically run with in the tank?

For free mods: gut the MAF, install a 160deg aux fan sw or open the A/C pressure sw at the strip, cut-back your spark plugs, do the TB coolant bypass, relocate the MAT, increase the TPS base setting to 0.65Vdc and increase base timing to just before knock counts, remove the spare & jack.

Have a good exhaust shop (there's one in Cape Coral) install a mandrel-bent 2 1/2" front Y.

Install an AFPR to tune fuel flow to air at WOT.

Arrive at the strip with 1/4-1/3 tank of fuel. Keep the heater on high till just before you launch to minimize coolant temp.

How was your traction? Something as simple as airing down your rear tires a bit could improve your times. But, all in all, thats not a bad time for a stock, iron head, L98.

My best 60' was a 1.894 when I ran the 14.106 The rest are between 1.9 and 2 What do you mean by cutting the spark plugs. And what is the best timing setting and do you really think I'll gain anything by taking the spare out

Thats a really good 60'. I would take the spare out and run about 1/3 tank of gas. Gas weighs I think 6.6lbs/gallon. With a 20 gallon tank you would save about 88 pounds running 1/3 tank. The spare is also about 35 pounds.

Every 100lbs is about 1 tenth.

Those are good short times, looks like you've got the launch down well.

Cut back plugs are explained on my site, it was worth about 1mph gain to me.

Indeed weight reduction will bring higher trap speed and lower ET. The less weight your power has to accelerate the quicker it can do it.

I run without a spare or jack to drop about 45lbs and every gal of fuel weighs about 6lb so 1/4 tank is about 25lbs so I arrive with about 1/3 tank of fuel.

The timing depends on your car. With my stock chip I could run 8-10deg advanced but with the Stage II I had to cut back to 6deg to eliminate knock counts. You can experiment a little to see what your car likes best, look at trap speed as your indicator.

I have always thought of taking the spare out but knowing my luck I will get half way there and get a flat but I guess I'll test my luck. I don't know how much gas I run with because my dash doesn't work, but I just bought a new one so next time I"ll know how much gas I have. Also how much did you gain from moving up the timing.

I wasn't looking at trap speed to set my timing but checking for knock counts with my scan tool.

My reason for advancing timing was to get better throttle response as I would get an occasional lag on launch.

Also if you hit a day when the baro is high (over 30) you should cut some good ETs. Of course you can't expect a cool day in SW FL for a few months yet, but that will realy help too.

Outside temp and the temp on the track have a lot to do with times also. Last weekend at Bradenton I heard the track was 120 degrees and the outside temp was 92. Go back in the fall, if there is such a thing here in Florida. I'd go back when the temp is in the 70's at least and you'll be surprised! :yesnod:
