Default Sound difference between eliminators and Power Effects

I have an auto L98 and was wondering if in the closed position the PE system is really almost as quiet as stock. How does it sound about halfway open? When the baffle is all the way open will it be noticibly louder than my muffler eliminators or about the same? I did some research on this site about this system and was wondering how you all thought it would be compared to my stock Y pipe and eliminators. Thanks! :seeya

Closed sounds almost as quiet at idle, but when you get on the gas in any position, it has that nice snarl to it. I haven't noticed any real difference between halfway and fully open.
Unfortunately, I have no experience with the eliminators.

After driving my car with the eliminators and driving REDGAR's with the PE(when he had a C4), I can honestly say that inside the car they sound alike. That's with the PE's on the open setting.

Do yourself a favor. Stay away from the ones you replied about. I went and saw them and they look like they have been through a cement mixer with slabs of dried cement still in the mixer. Im not knocking PEs, just those particular ones. You can go check them out if you want to check my opinion, you'll see Im right. Unless they have been painted since Friday night. Why else would I pass on a set of "NEW" PEs for $550? I talked to Joe M at PE (www.powereffects.com) and they have a show special right now and you can order direct for $810+ shipping if you really want PEs. It will take about 3 weeks or so to get to you (what he told me).

I have no opinion on which sounds nicer (elims or PEs), I dont have either. I just didnt want someone wasting their time getting excited, like I did, about "new" PEs when they are not close to "new".

Thanks for the heads up! I guess each person can have their opinion about what looks new but I want a system that looks flawless. :chevy I guess I'll take your advise and not bother.

Eliminators are a pretty cheap mod.

Go ahead and try it, I love mine!
People can't believe I don't have any mufflers on it.
Doesn't start to growl until you get above 2k
They best sound is when you downshift! crackle crackle :D

THe PEs are stock quiet until you get in it a bit at which point they are louder than stock in the closed setting. When open, it's obviously no comparison to stock. If you like a deep big block type sound, this system is very nice.

To me, the PE has a deeper sound than the muffler eliminators. The nicer thing about the PEs is that they are tuneable. However, you're going to pay a premium for that if your only other choice is muffler elims.

I've got PE's on my 85' Put them this past January. I love em' Yes you still get some resonance @1200. I've found I like them better opened up all the time. seems quieter on the Freeway.
check em' out on my web-site http://www.gusvette.com
just click the icon or the word Power Effects in the index on the left.
Gus.
P.S. I have sound bites of how mine sounds, idle and rev. my $.02

I really like the sound of my eliminators.really pretty quiet at idle, but make some good noise at wot.Since ive done the heads and hot-cam,its really change the way it sounds altogather. At idle its just awesome sounding, and at wot,its a beast. It does have more resonance now than it did before, but I hardly listen to the cd or radio anymore, the music is the pipes!!
