I am considering changing the gear ratio.
The current ratio should be 3.45 (GM3)

What parts are recommended for this?
What would you look for in a shop to setup the gears?
What would you buy for a street car with an ls 3.90 or 4.11?

I am looking at D44HD-411 or D44HD-390.

should be?

have you looked at the tag on the diff?

The model had specific rears. if you know the exact 'package' on the car then someone here can tell you exactly whats in it IF the tag is gone or damaged.

As far as I know it is the base model. The tag is still there, and I did not get a chance to look at it. From what I read the car should have 12" front brakes, but it has 13". I am unsure what all the previous owner changed.

Is there anything I should be looking for to determine the package?

I'll just keep the 3.45s for now. I still am not sure on what parts will or wont work, and are needed in addition to the ring/pinion. What I have now at least works, but I have no idea if what I was going to buy would even work at all.

It would help if you posted what year, is it a 4+3, ZF6, auto? You should also have an option list. it will be under the rear glove box or center glove box lid (depends on year). Hp will make a big difference in what ratio you pic and how much seat of the pants difference it will make.

I went with 3.73 as I wanted a better road gear, it worked out great for me I also have 500hp so that does help.

It is a 1993 and it is also in my profile. This is also why I normally don't add this information to my profiles because no one bothers to read it.

I'll make it easy for you.

PS
People are regularly telling others to search first, but then they cant be bothered to even click on a profile link. It would be much nicer if people could practice what they preach. I had the year and model available all along just one click away, but like I said normally no one bothers to look there. They would rather needlessly ask the poster for that information then simply click on the profile link and read it there. It would be different if the information was not there, and also why I normally don't bother it is not worth adding it there so it can be ignored.

Consider this thread closed I know what I am going to do, and if I ever look into different gears again I will at least know where not ask on parts fitment.

Wow it should be easy to the properly functioning mind, that including as much information as possible to your post would be a courtesy to those trying to help you.

And as far as saying do a search being a double standard its not. If its your problem and youre asking for help it would show you ae putting in some effort already.

Its not complicated its courtesy.

I did add the information that was asked for. I am not in control of others reactions to my opinions. I had and still have part numbers in here for what I was looking at.
Just like there is more to this sentence then what you can see.

I did look your user name is not there, and none of the names from here are in that list. Odd it is there for me even when not logged in.

Update
For future reading more information.

I have a rebuilt 5.3L with forged Eagle rods, flat top pistions, 862 heads, Comp Cams 54-408-11 (XR259HR), LS1 intake, and a set of Melrose LS swap headers. It has a ZF6 with a Quicktime RM-6039, and LS7 clutch kit.
