Default '89 TPI intermittent starting problem

'89 TPI car 114K miles, automatic completely stock.

Sometimes it starts right up and runs fine. Sometimes it will start and then die. If I I hold the throttle open a bit I can drive it two-footed for a bit until it clears out and will idle.

I've had the injectors cleaned, the coolant temp sensor is new as is the MAF/AFM.

No codes in the ECU and no other symptoms. This happens intermittently and the car can be warm or dead cold.

I'm going to try another AFM in case the air temp sensor is bad.

Any other ideas?

Don't waste any money on that just yet....if it had bad sensors and it were out of spec for any period of time, you'd see a code.

MAF relay...but that sets a code.

You DO NOT clean the stock injectors on L98's. You throw them as far as you can. I use a sling-shot. Gets a LOT more distance out of 'em.

Stock injectors tend to leak, stick and cause all form of trouble from the age and exposure to alcohol fuel blends that they were not really designed to handle.
Most folks call Jon and get the Bosch-III inj and they are happy again.

The fuel system is the ONLY thing that can ruin your day and NOT set a code...If its NOT injectors causing random problems, its the fuel regulator leaking/sticking.
