My father has a 1993 Coupe, and just heard my new Borla Stingers on my 2002. Can you C4 guys recommend a few cat-back systems for his coupe (please include approximate cost, too)? Thanks!!!
here you go:
Corsa=stock idle but aggressive when you get on it....$approx 700-800
power effects=tuneable from stock to quite aggressive....currently about $1200
muffler cutouts=pretty loud, but you loose bottom end....$150
B&B=loud enough to set off car alarms...resonates quite a bit sometimes..$1200
What abut Eliminators in the MAD catalog? They look good for the price.I havent heard them but i hear that they sound good. Does anyone know anything about the Eliminators? Is the interior reasonance bad?I'd like to know b/c i'd like too put something on mine too.
I have some eliminators, I really like them. Got them off a forum member that had a Automatic and didnt like the resonating.
With the six speed the sound is much more manageable. I dont know if its in my mind, or the loss of weight of the mufflers, but I think my car does slightly better with them and in any event makes the car more fun to drive.
And for the price, if you dont like them you arent stuck with something you dont like.
Anything but flowmaster!!! I have 2 chamber Flowmasters with 3" pipe and it is way 2 loud. At 2000 rpms there is a huge amount of interior resonince. It is so loud it will make your ears ring on a 10 mile trip. I heard a C4 with B&B exhaust and it sounded AWESOME!
You don't need to by eliminators from a catalog. Just go to a good muffler shop and tell them to take of the mufflers and put in a straight pipe and put the stock tail piece on the end. Probably cost you $100.
Power Effects are a better solution. C4s resonate at 1700-2100. The stock are so quiet to keep your ears from ringing. P-Es can be tuned from reasonable to outrageous. You get what you pay for.

That's what I did. It didn't affect my low end torque at all. Here's a dyno tracing after the elims were installed. There is no 'before' dyno trace. My 1/4 mile times went from 14.3 to 13.9 with no other changes.

You can also buy the 1991 L98 Power Effects part number. Cut the pipes after the stock resonator and install the PE. That's what i did for my 96 LT4. Some one on here said they just paid $810 for the PE's. Show special price.

Also, Borla but I haven't heard many people happy with them. They are around $1300 for an LT1 depending on the tips you choose.
Don't forget looks.
B&B I think look the best
Corsa would be next
Borla with good tips next
Power Effects next. Would bennefit from Jet hot dipped tips, which are in my exhausts future
Flowmaster last. The tips looked like stamped welded painted pieces of garbage.
I like the Power Effects because they have a larger pipe than the Corsas(2 3/4 vs. 2 1/2) and can be adjusted for flow and sound with 6 settings. Its like having two exhausts instead of one. Hope this helps.

My thoughts exactly. Thats what I did. :yesnod:
I'd try that first. That's what I did with my '94 auto vert. It cost me $50, sounded great and I had no resonance problems.
If you don't like the way it sounds, you've only lost $50 or so.
I have the Flowmaster series 40 with no resonator and they sound great. They resonate a little at 1800rpm's but with the top off and the windows down (98% of the time for me) you can't hear the resonance.
