I have an 84 Crossfire and am trying to troubleshoot a hesitation problem. It's a bit of a hard cold start and the mechanic set the timing to spec when it was last in the shop. The hesitation seems to occur in the 900-1500 RPM range. I have tested the TPS sensor with a voltometer the other day and the 1 wire tested at 12v and the other at 5v. The middle wire started at around .3v and went up to around 4v. I had the wife slowly pull on the throttle and it seemed to not skip voltage on the way up but I did notice it went from around 1.6v to .5v on the way down and when I looked up my wife was still slowly letting the throttle all the way down. I had the air cleaner off and looked at the injectors and they seem to be spraying in a good cone shape with what looks like a very very slight leakage. I took the air cleaner off and cranked the car and noticed that when I slowly pull on the throttle, it's fine to start out with but then it hesitates for a second then I keep pulling the throttle and it starts to rev correctly. I also noticed with the injectors seem to be making a ticking sound when I put the air cleaner onto the engine and kept the top off. Maybe with the air cleaner on it the sound is just magnified and there is nothing wrong with the injectors. I have included a video. Hopefully you can hear the sound I'm talking about. It seems like more of a knocking sound in person. I hope I'm explaining this right as I'm pretty new to working on vehicles and I just want to get my wife's car running correctly. Sorry I can't embed the video
I also had a hesitation at low Rpms and I cleaned my throttle body and maf sensor and now she breaks the tires loose if I give her a decent amount of gas!
