On disassembly of my rear bearings I noticed a paper-thin flat washer between the bearing and the lower part of the spindle. (Right before the ABS cog). One bearing assembly had this washer installed and the other side had none. Do I need this washer to re-install my bearings/spindles or are they really necessary? Anyone with knowledge of this please reply...
seems like you should have them on both sides. Funny you mention this, on my '85 I was missing one on the drivers side when I replaced my rear bearings...... I haven't done the '90.... yet.
I reused mine and I think they are more of an Oil/grease seal for the bearing then a typical washer.Dont these bearings sling out grease when they age?
I could be wrong.
Also, its not the first time Ive heard of one side having one,and another missing.Maybe some warranty work or something in the past, the tech forgot to reinstall it or they forgot on the assembly line.
