Default Numbers are in!

k finally got the c4 finished. after a few random little issues like rocker studs leaking into the runners and a bad pcv line

anyways, started as a bone stock c4 coupe lt1 A4

the final build....
factory bottom end
edelbrock lt4 performer RPM manifold and heads
portmatch and polish
Edelbrock lt4 performer RPM Cam (218 Dur. at .50", .56" lift at valve after new rockers)
edelbrock throttle body
factory MAF
comp 1.52 rockers
comp lifters and push rods
msd coil and wires
accel distributor
hooker 1 3/4" long tubes
corsa 2.5" header back
11:1 compression with cometic mls gasket

Ive got to change the o2s still. the headers run one in the #7 primary so im going to plug that and put a bung in each collecter.

VBP extreme touring suspension
TSW Nurburgring wheels (18" all corners)
BFG G-Force Rivals (275/35-18 front, 315/30-18 rear)
curb weight 3150lbs

Charlie and Austin from RPM in valencia did the dyno yesterday. nice 100* day
390 HP and 358 TQ to the wheels on 91 and 25 MPG

Im happy seeing as she started at 300/335 at the fly wheel

I'll put some pics up when I get home from work

Nice-

good numbers; Edelbrock Peformer lt4 heads (I would assume they have had a nice port/polish job), 11:1 compression, and nice cam; not all surprising; great package

Looks like you have me trumped by about 40hp!!

well the heads come with a cnc port but they don't go very deep and I wouldn't exactly consider it a nice smooth runner

I had a friend of mine Toby here in So Cal port them. Also opened them up a bit. ported them out to the gasket (which was significantly larger than the existing port size). Edelbrocks seem to leave a lot of room for work and improvement when you take the time on them

These heads from them actually run a larger combustion chamber than factory. if you run them with nothing else changed they will bring the lt1 compression from the factory 10.4:1 to 10.2:1. not huge but still going in the wrong direction IMO

that's why I put .030" gasket on it. brought it up to 11:1

what is the loss on these drivelines?

I saw on another forum a guy said he had his 96 a4 do 84% at the wheels based off a stock engine

its gotta be more than a 15% loss. that's really hard for me to believe. id be expecting something more in the 20-22% range

With what trans/converter? With a stick, no way. I'd say closer to 12% has been my observations.

My box-stock C6 (LS2) did 360 to the wheels
My box-stock '92 LT1 did 279/312 to the wheels.

No way either of those cars were losing 20%+ in the drive train. Maybe with a really loose, inefficient converter it might be that high. I have no experience w/set ups like that.

knew that username looked familiar paul just didnt put it together lol

Interesting
Yrs ago a member brought his 96CE over. He had someone put the hotcam in and someone port the heads (LT4). They imo were overported but probably moved some air. At that time Charlie
tuned it and got 360ish to the tire also tuned by Charlie.
Put some Dougs Shorties on there (noticed you got real headers lol)did an overnight thrash yanking the intake ported it drove it out the next morning (not a great job but a def improvement)
Took it back to Charlie and it netted 392rwhp. Cannot recall if the tq was in the 33x or 35x as yours.
I think it was in the 33x it felt light on tq downlow
I will say after driving it the car woulda whipped the pants off my then ZR-1, with 2 people in the car it would smoke the tires.
Passed smog which is a bonus. It dipped into the 12s in our lousy air with a not so great launch on street tires it spun bad
It would be interesting to see your car with a sticky tire....weather is cooling off great time to run it at Famoso!!

Very similar shows what longtube headers and imo a properly sized head can do vs a "hogged out #s head".
For awhile I wondered if Charlie had a happy dyno that day apparently not

Enjoy!
