Door ajar Indicator switch for 1986
Having a difficult time trying to find a replacement door ajar switch for the driver side door. In mine, the plunger that closes the circuit broke off and now my warning chime constantly rings when I turn the headlights on. I've seen others advertised which are for the 88 and newer models, only difference being that instead of the wiring the old one has with the connecting harness at the end of the 5" long wires, the newer ones have the connecting harness as part of the switch.
My question is: Has anyone tried using the newer switches instead of the OE for this model year and will it fit through the hole and will the mounting screw holes match? I've also seen them used, but I don't want to take a chance in buying a used one which could fail.
