I'm new to the forum but have visited a lot for some of my own repairs.I had the same thing happen a couple of years ago. I took the switch out and cut a piece of metal shaped it to the broken piece and riveted to the switch. It seems to be much stronger than the original broken piece
I was kinda a tough job I had to pull the steering wheel off and disacembled the steering colum down to the turn signal then droped the colum. its been a while there is a pin that holds the switch in be careful with the horn switch it will break easy
Yeah, I did the same as you did on my previous 93 C4. It was pain to do. Don't feel like doing that this time. I'll get a quote from a shop. Hardly take my cars to the shop, this is one of those times. Thanks a lot and welcome to the forum
Anyone have any tips on how to do this? Any recommendation on which brand to buy? Car is a '93
Information: As you know the wiper Switch for a 1990 to 1992 Corvette is almost impossible to find. There's a guy in California that refurbished mine for $225.00.
I installed it and it works very well. Steering Column Services 160B Calle Del Oaks Del Rey Oaks, CA 93940 (435)319-6011. On Youtube.com a guy in Australia demonstrates
the removal process of the wiper switch on a 1991 Corvette. He skips some parts but it is informative. He winds up with a copper spring that he doesn't know where to put it when he reassembles. it goes on the plastic piece that works on the tilt mechanism. The tilt lever screws though a hole in the plastic piece. The GM schematic of the steering column shows it in the wrong place. Also, I found the schematic to be useless. Thank god for the guy in Australia. I'm 77 years old and it was a bit challenging. I dropped the steering column from the supporting bracket. It made threading the wiring of the new switch through the steering column housing much easier
