Default Pulling #36 Fuse (Interior Courtesy Lights)

Good Evening.

I have tried with new door pin switches. They seem to break easily. When i hit a bump the interiors come on as does the "door ajar" light on the dash. This is very annoying and hazardous at night.

Has anyone pulled the #36 fuse? Before doing so i want to ensure that this is strictly for the interiors and nothing else.

Thanks!!

You may need to change the door ajar switch cover that the switch presses against when you close the door. sometimes they crack. On mine I shimmed the switches out so they would make better contact with the cover.

The CTSY fuse on my 90 is for interior lighting. It also handles the "cigar lighter" and under hood lights and spare tire lamp.

It may handle the power antenna too, but I don't remember

All: i have pulled both CTSY fuses (36 and 37)

- the interiors have gone off
- the cluster lights have gone off
- the radio has gone off

Now when i opened my door with the "door ajar" issue. The replacement switch (PART 20196) is located where the door meets the frame of the car when closing. I was messing around with the door and the door ajar kept coming on and off when i would open the door all the way and close it half way (without it even touching the door pin)

suggestions to fix? Pulling the fuse was a fix only for the time being. I do not wan to go without the radio or the cluster lights.

Thanks!

That sounds like a real wiring issue that will require you to dig deep into the wiring in the door, or where it flexes at the hinge site. A similar 'broken wire' issue plagues my daughter's Ford Explorer with respect to her power windows. Tracing for a short or a broken wire might be in your future.
Good Luck!
