I purchased an engine out of an 89 Conv. and transplanted it into a 1970 GMC 4X4. This engine seems far from stock. It has Trick Flow Heads, Edelbrock Intake and defiantly a cam upgrade. I am needing to order a push rod and guide plate for the head. The car this came out of is no longer around so not sure about the options. I am being told that the C4's in 89 came with a factory performance upgrade with Trick Flow Heads and intake. But can't seem to find anything on line about this fact. Is this true or not and either way where can I read up on what this upgrade included and how do I order push rods and guide plates making sure they are correct. Any information on this would be awesome.

That's because it's not fact....it's folly.
No TFS heads were ever offered as a factory option.
Ordering push rods and guide plates should be not different than for any SBC: Confirm push rod length, then get hardened push rods and some guide plates. If the heads are "twisted wedge" heads, you may need TFS specific guide plates.
Thanks for the reply. I noticed that the spark plugs were angled so I thought that's what they were. We got the casting #s off of them and looked them up and they are factory aluminum heads. Not TFS.
