Brake flex hose analysis
No braking problems..... just curious about the condition of the brake flex hose after 22 years and 66000 miles (my 1992).
Rear brake hose with center section removed:
Center section of hose showing nylon (?) core. Zero distortion or
break-down:
Hose core free of debris/sediment..... ran a wire through core with ease:
Outer rubber was free of cracks when flexed (as you would see with a worn serpentine belt):
My guess (non-scientific) would be that the flex hose would last at least 40 years and 500K miles with proper fluid changes.
