Default What is this noise?

Car is a 93 LT1. This sound is not there when the engine is cold. Starts to make the sound at around 190 via the digital read out. Any ideas? It's a cell video, so sorry for the quality.

Cant open the file unfortunately, apparently it needs something called "video performer" which my security wont allow have you got it anywhere else?

Very difficult to pin point the source of the noise from the video.
May be coming from the smog pump, and, or, the diverter valve.
Just a long range guess.

Did you just take a video of your engine from inside the car? try making it while the hood is open from outside.

No help from me.......... if you didn't write about a noise concern, I would think you had a 'smooth' sounding engine.

I thought it I heard valve noise. I do smell gas from the tailpipes, so it is running a little rich. Replaced the FPR, OPTI, plugs and wires. I'll check to see if the injectors are leaking. It is hard starting sometimes. Thanks a lot guys

Many LT1/4 engines sound like Singer sewing machines when they are hot. Just curious, what is your oil presure when hot or warmed up at idle?

When temps are in 200s, in drive at a stoplight, it goes as low as 20.

I've seen a lot of LT1 exhaust manifolds crack under the center runners, when they heat up the crack opens and you get a small leak it sounds allot like an old belt driven smog pump. You have to remove the heat shields to see it.

I let my dad listen to the sound today. He also mentioned a leak from the manifold. What do you mean by "center runners"?

The ones I have seen that cracked were the two center pipes met the main pipe. I'll look around and see if I still have one and if I do I'll snap a pic.

My bad had not looked at this in many years, The end pipes cracked, this one is off my 95 LT1 replaced about 3 years ago. I have seen this on at least 4 others all in the same place.
