Just finished up restoring my 85 . Took it on its 2nd test run and bang I heard something under the hood let loose. Pulled over raised the hood and there it was the air pump pulley laying in front of the engine belt no where to be found.
This was a brand new pump from Corvette America! It did a job on the alternator and water pump pulley. Called tow truck brought it home
The shaft right behind the pulley just broke. Does anyone have any idea what might cause this, Pump was not seized and pulley was not wobbling prior to shaft breaking
Yes new tensioner new belt, nothing jammed. I contacted CA yesterday and they are sending a replacement since it was a new pump. Its is strange, after looking at the pump it was not a broken shaft. I appears that the front rotating assembly is pressed on the shaft. I looks like the press fitting let loose. I will post pic. Thanks Art
I have a 35000 mile GM factory 1990 L98 pump & brackets, pulley, hoses etc I would sell cheap with new Dayco belt PM me if interested.....
GM Factory is way better quality than China or Mexico replacement..IMO
