I have just purchased a lowering kit with 10" rear bolts. I have noticed other kits offering 10.5" bolts. I plan to cut down the front wedges to achieve 1.5"+ drop. Will I need the 10.5" bolts to bring the rear down low enough to match the front?
Use what you've bought, every install will result in potentially different final results. You will either be happy and have saved the other purchase OR you may feel the need for a longer, maybe even 11" bolt.
The rear install is pretty straight forward and quick so I don't believe I'd "overreact".
The 10" bolts will lower the rear and look fine with the standard front lowering wedges installed.
I wanted the front lower than the standard lowering kits provided so, I had a shop shave all the rubber down on the top and ends of the front spring for the maximum stance. I first used the 10" rear bolts and it looked OK but, I wanted the rear about 1/2" lower.
I ordered 11" bolts from Fastenal and the stance looks perfect now!...
The front of my 91 Vette measures 26 1/4" (ground to top of wheel well) and the rear measures 26 1/2" with a full tank of gas.
