Hello. I'm new to the Forum, looks like a great place to share and learn about Vettes. I have a 1990 C4 that was purchased in September with 77,100 miles. It had some headlight and electronics issues. The headlight module was replaced along with the body control module. After these repairs I was switching the odometer from trip mode to miles mode and to my surprise the odometer was reading
236,000 miles. Any ideas as to what may have happened to the odometer? Thanks!
When I purchased the 1990 C4 in Sept it had 77,100 miles on it per odometer and title......now showing 236,000 after other electronic issues were repaired.

The odometer reading is stored in the CCM.
They replaced your CCM with a used one. When you replace the CCM with a refurbished one, you use a Tech 1 to program the original mileage and some other parameters. You have 100 miles to do this. After 100 miles none of the parameters can be modified.

Hello, Thanks for your reply. But it sounds like I'm screwed, I've driven the car a couple hundred miles since the work was done.

The Body Control Module also called the Central Control Module in a Corvette contains the odometer reading. Who every replaced the CCM installed a used one which cannot be reprogrammed. This is to prevent odometer fraud. You have a used CCM out of a vehicle that had 236,000 miles on it.
If you can get your original CCM back, send it out for repair and your original mileage should still be intact.
