Window Alignment and Parts
Yes, another thread on window alignment. I've searched and read but can't find quite what I'm looking for.
I've got an 84 so my passenger window has the old ribbon type window mech and seems to work fine, although slow. However my problem is that the window tilts forward and when rolled all the way up, doesn't sit properly against the b pillar. I have read a couple of posts and other articles which indicate that there might be a problem with the window stop guide in these cars. Do 84s have these parts or are they only located in later models? Yes, I have an FSM ordered and on the way.
I and am trying to order the part through Corvette Central along with some other parts. I can't find the part there though. Can anyone help with my problem and/or a part number please?
Thank you
Darren

There is a guide in the door that limits the rear up limit and also the tilt of the glass toward the weatherstrips, see the image from my shop manual, there are two bolts that can be loosened a little to move the guide up or down. (Mark the bolt position, remember a small change makes a big difference) It is a trail and error thing, just have patience.
There is also a L shaped bracket that limits the front glass hight that is not shown.
See the area circled, that guide is what the window regulator goes into.
That limits how far the glass can go up and also the tilt of the glass (a hidden bolt inside the door but you can get a socket on it)
The guide has two functions with a sizzor like effect for window tilt and height limit.
Here is a ebay listing what the guide looks like, the window regulator slides into it. You can also see the hidden bolt that regulates the window tilt angle.
The later 87-96 window regulators fit the 84-86 and are a lot faster.

Gerard, that's not the part I had in mind, but might just be what I need. I guess I'm just going to have to pull it apart and actually diagnose the fault before ordering parts etc. I know, you guys are rolling your eyes at me.
Thanks again
Darren
