my left-side head light is dead. the brights work on both sides, but regular headlight is out on the left hand side. I think the bulb is dead. the headlights are pretty dim anyway, so I've been considering replacing them both. What kind of bulb should I use to replace the two headlights? And is there any complicated procedure for replacing them, or do I just screw off the fronts?
Well a C4 headlight is a sealed fixture. You cannot just change the bulb. You have to change the whole headlight housing. I upgraded mine to a set that allows for me to just change the bulb.
I have been reading with interest your solution to your headlight problem and have been really tempted to do the same thing to my C4. I have a few questions that I would like to ask you . First, did the headlight change over cause you any electrical problems, did you have to change any of the headlight wiring harness's ? I have printed out your directions etc , will they work on a 93 C4 also ? Do the lights put out a strong white light or that bluish light. The cops are cracking down on that bluish light out here.
Thanks Scorp for your answers , I also loved your engine change over info. Keep up the good work, just wanted to let you know that I was born and live most of my life back in Mass, but live out here in the West now !

No.

No.

The only thing different (that i know of) is that our headlight switches are different, you will probably have to manually 1/2 raise them.

Hmm... they have a blueish tint to them, but it isn't insanely 'blue'. Sort of like some of the BMWs but not quite as bad. The bulbs you see me using are illegal and do not have a DOT rating on them. With that said, next to nobody flashes their lights at me, so it must not be pissing many off. Just remember to aim them properly.

Looks like I will make this mod sometime soon. I live out here in Utah and its dark out in the desert at times when one does high speed runs. Is there other lights that could go into those light housings?
I was born in Springfield, lived in Indian Orchard then moved to Lemoninster (spel), then move to Rhode Island, then Portland, Maine, then back to Wellesley, Mass. I have been here for over 23 yrs, but still root for the Pat's and Celtics.
Thanks again, have always wanted to say hi seeing all your posts.
So the stock bulbs cannot be replaced? I doubt that in 13 years this is the first time one of the bulbs died, so I'm guessing the previous owner replaced one/both of them at least once. Is there any way to tell if the replacement headlights (the ones on there now) can have the bulb replaced? I really don't want to spring $100+ for one dead bulb :cry
