Help Guys... This morning my security remote for my 86 gave up the ghost and now I can't get any starter activity. It appears to be factory or dealer installed. The module is under the center console door and looks factory.
Any clues on how I can over-ride not having a working remote. Something with the door switch maybe.
Everything alse works, lights, inside door switches, just no remote, and the security dash light is on.
Re: HELP - Security Lock-Out- 1986 (Bill's86Coupe)
Thanks Bill....Disconnectiong the battery did the trick. Tried the door locks, didn't get anywhere. I will go to a alarm store tomorrow for a new remote. Bob
Glad to hear that it worked...also,be careful not to LOCK your car by using the powerlock switch for the time being when you go out somewhere.
(unless the alarm system unit bypassed this function..the factory alarm will arm itself this way)
Otherwise youll arm the alarm again and have to disconnect the battery again.
Lock the doors manually by hand(orange ****)inside.
Note: In case one doesnt know,to test this function, get in the car and leave the door open..security light should be flashing.Hit the power door lock switch to lock the doors and the light should now freeze. If it does, its arming, but immediately unlock it with the switch and it should flash again being disarmed. That will tell you if it arms itself with the power locks or not.
