Default 96 Coolant Bypass.. yes again ......

This seems like a different method than some I've read on here, does it work just as well? Just got back from Home Depot, Napa, O'Reilly and Autozone, couldn't find a 3/8" - 5/8" Brass hose adapter at any of them. This is what the forum tech tip called for. Oh yeah, forgot Lowe's too  Too dang hot to be running all over Dallas for nothing. :mad

On a LT1-4 you really don't need an adapter at all.
1) Take the long hose off of the throttle body and save the clamp.
2)Remove the other hose from the throttle body. It is ell shaped and connects to the engine. Remove it from the engine side as well. Note that the ell hose has two different end sizes!!!
3) Trial fit the long hose that you removed from the throttle body to the engine fitting. Cut the hose to length so that it curves easily. Secure with the original clamp. Refill and bleed air. That's all.
4) For a professional look, get a couple of hose plugs from AutoZone to put over the throttle body fittings.

Twenty minutes, counting the trip to AutoZone.

The method that Brett described on that page is a no cost mod and had been done by many people.

That method is *exactly* the way I did it a few weeks ago, was going to buy the brass connnecter and extra clamps etc., until Mr. Mojo, et al set me straight and clued me in on this simpler method that works on the LT1's.

I had to cut the small elbow hose off the feed fittings, though. It was bonded hard. Also, I smoothed off some of the build up on the metal tube feed line fitting before I attacched the return line, just to try and insure a better seal. The metal feed tube fitting that you will be connecting the return line to has a small raised ridge on it-- I centered the clamp directly over this ridge to help assure a good seal. Have not noticed any leaks yet.

Wonder where's a good place to find a couple end-caps to put over the open fittings left over after the procedure, on the throttle body?
