Bought a 93 roadster a few months ago and had the tires on the right side swapped front to rear (tires were on the wrong size wheels - front on back; back on front - don't ask!!). Anyway, got that taken care of at the local tire store, drove it for a week or so and started getting "Low tire pressure" and Service TPMS System" messages.
Messages been going on since then. Tire store says the TPMS stuff in the wheel for this year Corvette are REAL expensive ($150 ea. 'Remote sensed' TPMS system??) and they don't replace them when the tires are broken down. They 'reset' them, but the message keeps coming back.
Tire pressures stay fine with no 'leaker'.
So, are the TPMS sensors that expensive? Am I getting the run-around?

The price you've been quoted is likely not enough to buy them and they've been long discontinued by GM. There are some out there but it's certainly a gamble. You need to likely try and solve the error messages and actually if the car sits a lot it's not unusual to have errors until it's been driven. Do you have the FSM? The diagnostics aren't that difficult if you've got the FSM.
The sensor is strap mounted to the wheel, each wheel is a specific sensor(it requires 4 different part #'s) and it's a '93+ only application.

If the "FSM" is the manuals, then yes, I have them. Just checking for info on here before hitting the books. I'm sure they broke something when they mounted the tires since the lights started up afterwards, but if the parts aren't available anymore, it'll be like beating the dead horse with them.
I'm thinking about replacing the wheels sometime and they come with new sensors, so this is more of a fact-finding mission. Just trying to get educated.
Do the 93s have TPMSs? I suppose it is a good thing that I have had mine for 21 years and never had to discover that. It is only on its second set of tires although these are 14 years old and have only 20,000 miles on them, so I am fortunate they never have lost any air.

Love the car.
I think the option code is "UJ6". If that is on your options sticker, then you have it. It was an option installed on about 3400 of the 93 models, so you may not have it. Check the sticker.
