I am not a Vet owner persay. I am the owner of a Vet Engine out of a 89. complete with harness. its going in a 83 k10 all stock. No mudder.
Anyway, I have a few questions I am begging you wonderful guys to answer for me. And I have done a lot of searching on my own that is why I am here and posting. Trust me I am not lazy. Ok here goes.
I'm looking a layout of what all the relays are and what I need, and where they are located.
I have read that I can delete the smog and AIR diverter system along with the EGR, is that true?
I suppose what I am asking is, just what all is absolutely necessary for this swap.
I don't have to worry about passing smog regulations or anything.
I have a good schematic for the engine controller, but cant seem to find one for the accessories. I would appreciate anything in that line.
I am using headers, I have a VSS from summit.
There is a very good book covering this swap in detail. "Chevrolet S-10 Truck V-8 Conversion Manual" written by Mike Knell, JTR Publishing. ( www.V8S10.com) , cost up to 30 bucks, depends where you get it. Somewhere in there, if I remember correctly, it says an 86 Vette radiator is best and recommends using a 700-R4 tranny.Oh, you cant bolt a 700-r4 tranny from a 2.8 V6 onto the V-8..get the book lots and lots of info on how to do it RIGHT.
by the way, thru out both books I have, they say stay away from the Vette engine, go with a Camaro or firebird 350 engine.
Do they say why? IIRC, I had a 91 Firebird with the 350 and the thing had steel heads. I'd go with Vette D=port heads that can be fluffed out to be something better than spend the money fluffing steel heads.
