Default Leak at drain plug

95 LT1, have an oil leak at the nylon [?] drain plug bushing, which seems loose. What is involved with replacing this/ Does the pan have to come off?
Lost a lot of oil while parked...

I have a 95 LT1 and I do not use a nylon washer. No leaks. But regardless of whether you choose to use the washer or not, it should not be loose. Is the drain plug the correct plug? Is it tight? If it is the washer should also be tight.

Obviously the only way to check it is to remove it and inspect it which means you will loose your oil. But I suspect it was replaced with the wrong one at some point in time someone put the washer there to keep it from leaking.

If it's been stripped you can get a self-tapping oversize plug at your local autoparts store.

I have had trouble with the nylon washers cracking over time and leaking. I've gone old school with a copper washer and never had a problem since.

Im beginning to suspect this insert was some sort of repair. Has been on the car since I bought it in 03. As you turn the plug, the insert turns as well.
