Hey if there was such a book I would buy it. Can anyone recomnend a book on the LT1? I cant seem to find anything. I have john lingenfelter's book on modifying small block chevy engines, and it is a great book. Just dosnt have anything about LT1. I have the TPIS LT1 hints book, all 38 pages, which has way more on f-bodys, and l-98 stuff then the LT1. Any suggestions?
I really haven't seen anything to particular on the LT-1. However, the TPIS book "Insider Hints" for the L98 lends itself well to basic small block hotrodding. The same principles apply no matter what sbc you have.. more air in, more air out = more hp/tq. How you go about it with a myriad of upgrades is up to you.
Another book that I pull out from time to time is Lingenfelter's book on building high performance Chevy small blocks. I forget what the exact title is, but they go into enough detail about cam timing and valvetrain geometry and compression and on and on... it's enough to wet anyone's appetite.
Eric, I understand that its air in air out, and when it is broke down to that level, a same design should work be it a chevy, ford, or dodge engine. The Lingenfelter book is very good. It shows head comparisons, things like sbc 86 and after generally have hardened pushrods. (page 111) different combos., etc. It is a 165 page book on the sbc, not the LT1. The TPIS book on the other hand (38pages) is suposed to be based on the LT1. Instead it has about 3 to 5 pages on the LT1, info on 454 big block trucks, 4 pages which are a reprint from bosch on how to check a o2 sensor, 3 pages of letters saying what a great bunch of people they are, 15 pages on L98, a few pages on f-bodys, air intakes, suspension springs etc, I am trying to find info more on line of the Lingenfelter book for sbc, only aimed at the LT1. But anyways, thanks for your input.
Im a little new to this: so will heads from a normal flow sbc fit/work? or are they seperate. i see lots of heads for sale in mags. but dont come across LT1 heads.
