I assume that the 3.74 bore can't be overbored more than 0.060" so it's a long way from 4.00".
Its not an LT1, its an L99. They actually ran suprisingly well in the city cruisers they were installed in, they just lacked the ~ 140 mph top speed that the highway patrol liked (remember, I'm talking Caprice here, not Corvette). What I've always wondered is how the L99 would have worked in a 6 speed Vette, maybe mid 30 mpg highway, would have made the C4 more popular in Europe and other parts of the world where trading off top end punch for mpg would be warmly received.
