Default Relocating the A/C Evaporator Can

Hi All,

I have decided to upgrade the cooling system in my '96 and will go with the DeWitt's double row radiator and SPAL fans. The fans require relocating the A/C evaporator can. My question:

Where is the best place to relocate the evaporator can?

If you've done it, I'd appreciate some pics, if possible.

Many thanks!

I'd help you if I could, but not familiar with this upgrade. The right person needs to read this to answer your question. Hang in.

I did not have to relocate mine, but put some spacer to get it away from the fan housing and put a spacer under bracket to raise it off the cross member it was fastened to. The two original holes of the bracket that screws into the housing I was going to cut off but didn't. I bent the one side down so it wouldn'trub against the intake air tube, and the hole I used for a nylon tie for the air sensor wire as I had moved it. This is on a 93 but should be similar. I may have a picture someplace .

Thanks Scott. I'm assuming you installed the SPAL fans and I'd love to see your pics!

I went out in the garage to take these and it was a bit dark and could not get the computer down in places to get very good pictures. Also a little cold here in Michigan so did not stay out there to long. Also with the fans did you get a spacer for the upper hose bracket? I had problems with the brackets that were sent and went down and worked with John getting the holes matched up correctly and had them make the spacer for that upper hose. I lost all my pictures I took last year with the computer but may have some on a camera with the mockup assembly. I'll try and find them.

Used a rubber bushing from a shock absorber to space it out, available at car parts store. Drilled new holes in bracket below the old holes.

Not sure what was used for a spacer on the lower bracket but used a longer self tapping screw to fasten it.
