Most of the parts stores sell taps designed just for plug holes.
TIP after recutting/cleaning the threads crank the engine with out the plug installed to blow out any particles that may have fallen into the cylinder.
Also, coat the thread chaser with grease or Vasoline. This will help reduce the amount of debris that falls into the cylinder. If you have access to an interior detail vac with a thin, flexible pick-up tube you can push the tube into the spark plug hole.
Re: AAARRRRGGGG!!!!! striped sparkplug threads!!! (Steel Blue 91)
Allready planed to do both ;) But thanks for the tips!!! and thanks for the thread pitch. All the auto stores around here only sell thread chasers not the actual tap. I'm going to production tool supply after work!!!
Re: AAARRRRGGGG!!!!! striped sparkplug threads!!! (Steel Blue 91)
Guys, very sorry i misquoted the thread pitch. :mad PLEASE FORGIVE ME The correct size is 1.25mm I checked my tap at work to day. By the way Napa sells a really good tool called a back tap it inserts past the threads and cuts on the way out removing all the crud with it. I believe Snap On sells them also.
