Default 87 Coupe Engine Drop!

So, the time has come to remove the engine on my 87 for a good going through. I also needed to take care of a leak on the tail shaft housing on the transmission, and I wanted to do a general cleanup on the rear axle assembly. So, the best way to get all these parts out? How about reversing the process that the factory used to install them? Yesterday, with the help of a friend, I used my garage lift to raise the body off of the entire power train, including the front crossmember and front suspension. All of the engine wiring was left on the engine and was disconnected at the firewall plug and/or the ECM and fed back through the firewall. The only components I removed from the engine were the alternator and the intake extension that covers the distributor. Now I can separate the individual chunks on the floor and do the work. Did I mention that I love my lift????

I got most of the engine torn down today, basically down to a short block. It may be a couple of weeks or so before I get a chance to do much else, but I'll update as I go.

2 things, what happened to all the AC stuff and now is a great time to replace the heater core with the engine out of the way. I also love my 4 post lift. I had to replace the fuel pump in my 85 S-10 truck. I used the lift to suspend the truck bed to easily get at the pump. Nice job

2 answers, I discharged the A/C (it's a 134 conversion and I have all the equipment to recharge it) and I replaced the heater core last summer.........
