Default Master Brake Cylinder Sensor

Theres a sensor lead running to the MBcylinder. It was alway falling off, and now with the Hookers, it melted! What was this for, and where can I get a new one? No codes or anything yet, so it must not do much...perhaps a fluid level indicator?

Thanks.

I replaced it on my 90 a some time back. I think it will light the brake light on the dask if fluid in the MC leaks. I got the part from Last Detail I think. I will try and find the part number and post it for you. About $6.

That is a switch which is activated when there is gross unequal hydraulic pressure between each master. The master cylinder is two cylinders , one for the front brakes and one for the rear brakes. If one system springs a leak, then a warning light is lit on the dash telling the driver that you have 1/2 of the brake system working.

I got the part from auto-parts-for-less.com. The part number 10074131.
It was $14.08 with shipping.

My warning light would come on when I washed my engine. The first two times it happened, I took it to the dealer, but the third time it went out before I got to the dealer (by this time, I wasn't panicking, so it took a couple of days) so I started ignoring it. But lately it comes on all the time. Any suggestions?
