The key FOB for my 94 coupe is not unlocking the door when I approach the car. All I hear is a clicking/ratcheting sound inside the door. The inside light goes on indicating the signal has been sent, but I have to manually unlock the door. (sometimes it works OK, other times it acts up) When I leave the car, the door does locks by itself. I brought the car in several weeks ago for the same problem and the transmitter was replaced under warranty. It seemed to clear the problem, but now its back. I suspect it something inside the door that is wearing out. I doubt if the mechanic even checked the door mechanism . Has anyone had this problem and what was the cure??

My keyless entry won't unlock my door either. You have to manually unlock with the key. And when locking it you have to repeatedly press the lock button. I think something, like an actuator is going bad inside the door. Maybe grease the lock/unlock pin. No idea!
Mine had the same problem.Pull the door panel off look for the door switch solenoid. Pull up the rubber boot, spray some wd 40 or some good penatrating lube down towards the solenoid mechanism on the shaft.Work it up and down a few times and it should work fine.
Yes behind the manual lock slide there is a screw behind it.You have to pop the slide off before you can access the screw.Other than that i'ts pretty straight forward.
You have to pop that slide off with a small screw driver, its sort of difficult, but put a rag on door panel plastic and have the slide in the unlocked pos and pry it off.
