Re: SES keeps getting set...TPS Problems Bigtime... (Steel Blue 91)
First, if you have a factory service manual, go to Emissions and Drivability, Code 42 and 43. If certain circuits associated with the HEI module are not working, there will be no EST. You could be stuck in the module mode and not changing to EST mode. For the code 43, the ECM perform's two tests to insure EST is working. One of these tests is under high engine load based on air flow (WOT?) and it seems as though your car is not passing this test and setting the Code 43. At least that's how I read the book.
Check to see if the timing connector used to set base timing is connected. If it is connected, you will have to start with the trouble shooting procedures for the code 42 and find out why you may not be getting into EST mode.
The TPS problems may be related. Surprised your not getting a TPS code but then again, it could be witchcraft.
Do you have a stock HEI distributor/ignition module?
From what I read, these two codes 42/43 are definitely related. Let us know what you find.
Re: SES keeps getting set...TPS Problems Bigtime... (dlmeyers)
Last night I took apart all wires to/from Distributor, and TPS. I Off and cleaned the Distributor cap and made sure everything was connected good and unplugged the battery.
I then hopped three times counter clock wise on my right foot and once clockwise on the left and when the car restarted all was fixed...
Don't actually know what the problem was, looks like just a bad connection somewhere.
Still have the mystery of why my interior beeper beeps(like when you leave the healights on with the keys out) even while the engine is running... Anyone know that ritual?
Re: SES keeps getting set...TPS Problems Bigtime... (snyper)
You need to setup your new TPS, I have a method on my site. Also assure that the tang is engaged properly into the throttle linkage; you can simply move the throttle and see if the TPS voltage changes smoothly throught the range of motion.
As mentioned, check the EST connector and clean all dist contacts.
As for that chime, any messages in the DIC and is the parking brake fully disengaged?
